What is Night School?
Night School is a bus service between San Francisco and the East Bay. We use off-duty school buses to provide a safe, reliable, and affordable way for nightlife patrons and workers to get home. We're going to make it like BART never stops running.
Your Late-Night Ride Home
Initial service is Friday and Saturday night from midnight to 4 am between the Mission (Valencia & 18th) and Oakland (Telegraph & 17th). More stops coming soon. Seating is first come, first served.
In exchange for monthly membership dues, riders get unlimited access to Night School buses. Currently Night School is a club that is not licensed to accept payment on a per-ride basis, though this will change soon. Members can join now by paying discounted first-month dues of $15.
Safe & Friendly
In addition to the driver, each Night School bus has a "conductor" whose job it is to supervise boarding and maintain a comfortable and safe environment for all riders. Drinking is prohibited on all buses. Riders disobeying instructions from the conductor or driver will have their membership revoked.
App Makes Boarding Easy
Night School's app tracks bus locations in real time, eliminating waiting and guesswork. It also speeds boarding by passing information to the conductor via Bluetooth Low Energy. Download the iOS app or sign up to be notified when we release the Android app.
Night School donates 5% of profits to the Great Oakland Public Schools Leadership Center to support their Teacher Fellowship Program and campaign to recruit, train and retain effective teachers in Oakland.
